A cut-off wheel
is a cutting tool.
A cut-off wheel is a cutting tool consisting of the abrasive grain and the binder middleware. While the abrasive grain causes the grinding work, it is the task of binding to hold together the individual abrasive. The binding webs from one grain to give the cutting wheel, the mechanical strength. Abrasive cutting is a cutting process, small and very small chips are removed from the workpiece when the abrasive grains bonded by a plurality of geometrically undefined cutting edge form.

Rubber-bonded cut-off wheels
Rubber-bonded cut-off wheels are used wherever high demands on the cut and the dimensional accuracy of the cut will be made. Our wide range of products ranging from 25 mm diameter to 350 mm and a thickness of 0.12 mm to about 10 mm. All materials can be separated depending on the quality of our rubber bonded cut-off wheels in principle. In the following list, which does not claim to be exhaustive, the common materials are shown:
- Steel
- HSS-steel
- Tungsten
- Molybdenum
- Chrom
- Vanadium
- Titan
- Copper
- Messing
- Ceramics
Thickness tolerances
Our rubber-bonded cut-off wheels are produced with a minimal thickness tolerance of 0.02 mm, so that cuts with high precision can be manufactured. The thinness of rubber-bonded cutting discs allows the creation of very narrow sections. This is particularly important for the reduction of costs in separating section of expensive materials, but also wherever narrow slots are required by design.
Recipes
Which field of application you need rubber-bonded cutting discs also, with our flexible production methods we turn difficult to troubleshooting. Depending on individual requirements, we offer a recipe so that our cutting wheels have exactly the properties that are needed to fulfill your task field.
Quality
The quality of the blade is determined by the hardness of the bond and by the type and size of the grain size of the abrasive. An abrasive find silicon carbide, standard corundum and fused alumina in grits of F54 to F400 (250 microns to 16.3 microns) use.
Wet or dry cutting
There is the possibility Rubber bonded cut-off wheels in the wet as well as use in the drying section. Our rubber-bonded cut-off wheels have been tested with a maximum operating speed of 50 m / sec or 80 m / sec. Based on our experience, we recommend an operating speed between 35 m / sec and 50 m / sec.
Abrasive
The choice of abrasive depends not only on its general breakage and wear behavior during the separation from the grinding process of the workability of the material. The desired service life of the rubber-bonded cut-off wheel and the demands on the surface quality influence the choice and composition of the grain. Our rubber-bonded cut-off wheels are made of both aluminum oxide and silicon carbide.
Grain size
The grain size is specified with a number that corresponds to a certain sieve mesh size. It indicates the number of stitches per inch, by the designated by the numeral grain just falls through. For quick and economical cutting of material coarser grain sizes are to be selected than for accuracy or fine disconnect. Likewise fineere grains are necessary for achieving high surface quality.
Corundum
Corundum is produced from the mineral bauxite in the electro-thermal melting method. Its properties are high hardness and toughness. Corundum is the most widely used abrasive. The cut-off wheels produced therefrom are used for the processing of low and high-alloy steels, metallic materials of medium and high tensile strength. Corundum is particularly suitable for large metal removal rates.
Silicon carbide
Silicon carbide we melted in electric ovens at a temperature of about 2,100 degrees of quartz sand and petroleum coke. In order to facilitate the reaction process, this mixture of sodium chloride and sawdust may be added.
Technical specifications
The technical characteristics of cut-off wheels depend on the abrasive, on the particle size, of the hardness, the Middle and binding of the formulation.
